Painting

Generally Lirco Boards don’t require painting. But sometimes paint job can drastically improve the aesthetic looks of WPVC depending on the theme. Painting provides an easy means of colouring and the possibility of different surface finishes such as satin, mattt, etc. After preparation of the surface, paint systems such as PU, Acryalic etc. can be applied using common application techniques.

Painting Intrusions

1.) Clean the surface of the PVC foam with rubbing alcohol(isopropyI alcohol). Use a clean rag to wipe the rubbing alcohol onto the surface of the foam This will strip any sealants that have been added to the foam’s surface and help the paint to a dhere.
2.) Sand the surface of the loan lightly with fine-grit sandpaper. Sanding will create a light texture that will help the primer better adhere to the surface and prevent scratches in the paint. Wipe away sanding dust with a damp rug.
3.) Apply primer to the PVC loans. Plastic primer is easily available at any paint store. Use a smooth foam roller to apply the primer on the foam sheet ina thin layer. Multiple thin coats of primer will resuIt ina better finish than a single thick coat. Apply two coats of primer, allowing each one to dry before applying the next.
4.) Apply paint with smooth foam roller, spray, brush or any other traditional methods.

Recommendations & Tips

1.) Make any necessary cuts to the foam sheets before painting. Cutting the foam after painting may result in scratches and peelsng in the paint’s surface.
2.) To obtain optimum results for brush-applied paints, apply coats in one direction and air dry. (Do not Heat dry since WPVC is Thermoplastic and can deform at high temperatures)
3.) Most enamels and water-based systems are generally not recommended.
4.) Remove any scratches on the Celtec material‘s surface by sanding with fine sandpaper or by rapidly fan ning the area withd heat gun. Once sanded, the original finish is removed.
5.) When using multiple panels together, it is vital that they are assembled in the same orientation to avoid colour variations.
6.) Provide sufficient drying time as per paint manufacturer instructions.
